TheraSkin® is Awarded the APMA Seal of Approval
Soluble Systems LLC (Newport News, VA) announced that American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) has awarded its Seal of Approval for TheraSkin®. TheraSkin is a cryo-preserved human skin allograft with both epidermis and dermis layers. When applied to a wound that is not healing properly, the skin allograft can jumpstart the healing process. The product provides a supply of growth factors, cytokines, and collagen to promote wound healing and is a superior alternative to Bio-engineered Skin Substitute (BSS) products currently used to help heal chronic wounds such as diabetic foot ulcers and venous leg ulcers. Like BSS’s, the product provides necessary growth factors and cytokines. Unlike BSS’s, the skin allograft provides a large quantity of essential collagens in appropriate ratios to support healing. Gaining the APMA’s Seal of Approval is a notable accomplishment as The Seal Program recognizes worthy products and provides the means by which the APMA can contribute to better foot health. Everyone wins, especially the patients who ultimately benefit directly with better foot health and better mobility. In order to be granted the prestigious Seal of Approval, TheraSkin was evaluated and approved by a panel of doctors of podiatric medicine. Their recommendation was then presented to the APMA Board of Trustees for final action. Criteria for approval included evidence of product safety, quality control systems, and product effectiveness.
